Getting From Newark Airport to Queens
Queens sits on the opposite side of New York City from Newark Airport, which makes it one of the longer transfers we run and one where the routing decision matters most. Depending on the hour, the sensible path is either through Manhattan or around the top of it through the Bronx.
Public transit on this route is genuinely difficult. It means AirTrain or shuttle bus, then rail into Manhattan, then a subway east — a journey with multiple transfers and stairs, which is a poor combination with checked luggage. The AirTrain replacement project has made the first leg less reliable still.
We quote against your specific neighborhood. Long Island City and Astoria are noticeably quicker than Flushing or eastern Queens, and treating the borough as one destination produces bad time estimates.
Two Routes Across the City
The southern route runs through the Lincoln Tunnel, crosses Manhattan, and enters Queens over the Queensboro Bridge or through the Queens-Midtown Tunnel. It is the shorter distance and works well outside peak hours.
The northern route takes the George Washington Bridge, crosses the Bronx on the Cross Bronx Expressway, and enters Queens over the Triborough. It is longer in miles but frequently faster during weekday peaks, when crossing Manhattan is at its worst.
Your chauffeur chooses between them based on conditions on the day. For destinations in northern Queens such as Astoria and Flushing, the Triborough route is often the better option regardless of the hour.
Tolls and charges on this route
Queens transfers cross the Hudson either through the Lincoln Tunnel and across Manhattan, or over the George Washington Bridge and through the Bronx via the Triborough. Port Authority tolls apply on the crossing and MTA tolls apply on the Triborough where that route is used. Trips routed across Manhattan below 60th Street also incur the congestion charge, which for-hire vehicles pass through per trip. Tolls and parking are billed at cost on top of your quoted rate.

Choosing a Vehicle for This Route
This is a long transfer, and comfort matters more than it does on a twenty-minute run. For two or three passengers an executive sedan is standard; for families, longer stays with more luggage, or winter travel, a full-size SUV is worth the difference. Groups should book a Sprinter van, particularly on this route, where splitting across vehicles reliably produces arrivals twenty minutes apart because of how differently the two routing options perform.

Your vehicle is assigned before you land.
A reserved car does not depend on how many drivers happen to be near the terminal when you clear baggage claim, and it does not reprice itself because your flight arrived during a busy hour.
The rate is fixed when you book.
You approve a flat rate in advance. Traffic, delays and the day of the week do not change it afterwards.
We track the flight, not the schedule.
Early landings and delays are adjusted automatically. You do not need to contact us from the jet bridge.
