When Booking by the Hour Makes More Sense
Point-to-point booking works when you know both ends of the journey and there is nothing in between. A great many days are not like that. Client visits run long, meetings get added, dinner reservations move, and every one of those changes means re-booking a car and waiting for it to arrive.
Hourly service removes that problem entirely. The vehicle and chauffeur are yours for the booked period. You direct where they go and when, the car waits while you are inside, and nobody is watching a phone hoping a driver accepts the next leg.
It is also frequently the cheaper option, which surprises people. Three or four separate point-to-point bookings across a single day, each with its own minimum, often costs more than booking the same hours outright. When you describe the day to us we will tell you which structure works out better rather than defaulting to the more expensive one.
How Hourly Service Works
You book a block of time
Minimums are three hours for an executive sedan or full-size SUV and five hours for a Mercedes-Benz Sprinter van, and the clock runs from your first pickup until the vehicle is released.
You direct the itinerary
Stops can be planned in advance or decided as the day goes. The chauffeur works to your direction rather than a fixed route.
The vehicle waits
Between stops the car stays with you. No re-booking, no waiting for a driver to accept, no surge pricing on the third leg of the day.
The same chauffeur throughout
One chauffeur for the whole booking, who learns the day as it goes rather than starting cold at every stop.
Belongings stay in the car
Bags, samples, equipment and coats stay in the vehicle between stops rather than being carried into every meeting.
Extensions are usually possible
If the day runs long, tell your chauffeur. Extending is generally straightforward subject to the vehicle's next commitment, and is billed at the same hourly rate.
What People Use Hourly Service For
Corporate roadshows and client visits
Several meetings across a region in one day, where the schedule is approximate and the driving between stops is substantial.
Corporate accountsExecutive days in the city
A car held in Manhattan while an executive moves between offices, meals and meetings, rather than releasing and rebooking each time.
Newark Airport to ManhattanEvenings out
Dinner, a show, a game or an event, where the return time is not known in advance and the alternative is standing outside trying to book a car when everyone else is doing the same thing.
Weddings and celebrations
Wedding transportation is almost always booked hourly, because the schedule needs flexibility built into it rather than bolted on.
Wedding transportationAirport transfers with stops
A pickup at Newark that continues to an office, then a hotel, then dinner. Booked hourly, this is one booking rather than three.
EWR airport car serviceSite visits and property tours
Real estate, construction and inspection days involving several locations and unpredictable time at each.
Choosing a Vehicle
Executive sedans suit most hourly bookings for one or two passengers. Full-size SUVs are the better choice for longer days, for three or more passengers, and when equipment or samples are travelling with you. For groups, a Mercedes-Benz Sprinter booked hourly keeps everyone together across a full day of stops, which is considerably simpler than coordinating several vehicles across a moving schedule.
